Red Faction: Guerrilla is set to be released in 2009, they haven’t been many details given out about the game product wise, the game has been developed for over four and a half years now, mainly due to a huge bug that whenever you loaded the game, all of the buildings would fall down, this meant that they had to find and fix the bug, as you can think, during the game a number of buildings do fall down.
The games place approximately 50 years after the original game took place, you’ll play as a character named Alec Mason, a miner who came to the red planet mars to escape a sketchy past and to be with his brother, named Dan. It’s long before you discover that Dan isn’t only a miner, he’s also part of a rebel group, who call themselves the Red Faction.
Unlike the fast game, Guerrilla is a third-person shooter and the game play is more of a open world approach, you are able to stop following the storyline and do other things for example. You can do the missions in any order which you want and your overall goal is to liberate six EDF control sectors.
The game is based on destructive power, not gun power, which makes a change for most shooter games, you have a number of different weapons to choose from which you can use to destroy buildings or kill your enemies.
You can also play the game in a multiplayer mode, which allows you to do the same style game play as you would in the single player mode, kill enemies, destroy buildings etc, due to the very limited amount of information which has been released, it’s impossible to tell what other multiplayer modes they are going to be.
Most of your battles will be fought against the EDF, these guys are poor soldiers to say the least, they don’t have any real tactics other then to kill the enemies, although they have some great gun power.
Sadly, no release-date has been set, although we’ve been told that the release is going to be somewhere in the middle of 2009, but it looks like a game well-worth the wait! The graphics look very detailed and very well designed, due to the amount of buildings which you can blow up, there is a very solid frame rate, which means you’ll be able to view the
