Sonic Unleashed was released on 24th November 2008, another great Sonic game in the series. Sonic Unleashed is a action packaged adventure game, with the classic fast played game play which you find with all Sonic games!
Sonic Unleashed has bought the Sonic graphics is a whole new level, I’ve never seen Sonic with this amount of detail to the levels, the game has some new Sonic moves, such as the Drift, which allows Sonic to drift around corners without losing any speed! Ring Energy, the more rings you collect throughout the game (Without losing them!) the faster Sonic goes and you now able to use your rings to give Sonic a boost of speed.
Sonic Unleashed takes players to different places throughout the world, showing some beautiful environments which were inspired by stunning jungles and beaches, you’ve even got maps which are like New York City, Africa, China and there is even some snow maps, which were based on the Arctic.
The start of the game shows you a short-film about Dr. Eggman who is out to unleash havoc across the world! Each level is fun to play with the different styles of speed and different ways to control Sonic, for example, you may find it harder to control Sonic when you have to turn a lot, but you’ll find it easier in more open areas, such as the Arctic, or perhaps you enjoy having to move Sonic around sharp-bends quickly at high speeds.
One of the problems I found while playing this game, the amazing graphics on the maps sometimes puts you off Sonic, going at such a high speed it’s vital you know what is coming up, I’ve ran into walls, off ledges, all sorts because I’ve been too busy looking at the graphics of the map instead of concentrating on where Sonic is going.
Adding a little more to do to the game, Sonic is now able to compete in various different quests, for example you may have to get from A to B in a time limit, or collect a certain number of rings, which is always fun to do!
One of the great things about the Sonic series, mainly this game is, anyone can play: You don’t need to know anything about Sonic to be able to pick up this game right away, it’s enjoyable from young children to the older-gamer. It’s a very fun game for all ages to play.
Sonic truly is one of the few games which is designed to be played by all ages and most young children can fully understand what is going on and what the storyline is; It’s also one of the few games were you able to pickup the controls very quickly and just grab a controller and play the game without any problems trying to figure out what you have to do.
I do honestly suggest, if you have ever played a Sonic game before, or the game sounds interesting, or even if you have young children in your house, to at least rent this game and let your children / yourself play it, it’s a unbelievably fun game for something designed for children to play.
