Metallica just announced on their website an offcial release date for Guitar Hero: Metallica, the outcoming spin off of the best selling rhythm game. The game is due out for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 March 29th in the United States, with Wii and PS2 releases planned for early May.
On top of 28 Metallica tracks, the game will also include about 20 tracks from bands that Metallica finds inspirational, including Queen, Alice in Chains, Lynryd Skynrd, and more. A list of confirmed tracks can be found here. The game will also include an Expert Plus mode for drummers, which will allow them to take advantage of an additional pedal, as well as DVD like tour footage and images.
The Guitar Hero series has been named one of the best selling games in history. Activision has also collaborated with Aerosmith to release Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. Metallica is also currently touring (they were in my town yesterday), and just released a new album, “Death Magnetic”, back in September.
