It appears as though you can’t go anywhere without hearing people state PC gaming is dead. However is this really true? Are PC gamers a dying breed? Not so says the Ray Muzyka, CEO of Bioware. He goes on to say that not only is it not dying, but it is actually bigger than ever. He was directly quoted saying,
I think there are more people playing PC games and more dollars being spent on the PC space than ever before…
This makes perfect sense when you think about the video game giant that is World of Warcraft, spouting a subscriber base of over 11 million people. Not to mention all those other MMOs out there and all those games on Steam people are flocking to. Also tell that to all those that own the Sims and Sims 2, two of the best selling games of all time.
In all honesty it’s hard to understand why people in the industry still continue to say PC gaming is dying. Maybe it is because those developers don’t really deal with the PC market, or understand that the gamers might be different than those that play console games. Either way, there is still a strong pulse and it seems as though PC gaming will continue well on into the future.
