In an effort to promote to healthy lifestyles among children, Konami and Subway are teaming in order to cut the amount of children with weight problems in the US. Each Kid’s Meal purchase will include a Dance Dance Revolution Premium toy. The toys include branded Action Armband, Water Bottle, Disco Revolution, Pencil Pal, Dancemania and Break-it-Down.
Each of the Kids Meals will come in a Dance Dance Revolution themed bag with DDR images on one side and Subway’s “Fresh Fit for Kids” meal program on the other. This is the latest in Subway’s initiative to help people of all ages live a healthier lifestyle. DDR has been known to help get gamers active, even including a workout mode in each version. The game has even been incorporated in the physical fittness programs in several school districts, and is considered an official sport in Norway.
With the success of Dance Dance Revolution and the recent success of the Wii Fit, it seems that hardcore and casual gamers alike are trying to like a more healthy lifestyle. On top of the success of the Wii console, which forces movement upon gamers and in practically made to be a fitness machine, games are becoming more than just a form of entertainment.
