Even though we are in the midst of an economic crisis where major companies are posting massive losses and many companies are also laying off a lot of their staff, it is good to hear some companies are doing well. Ubisoft said that their third quarter 2008-2009 are up 13%, which is more that they reported last year. They attributed this to their large selection of games and the strong performance of their Rayman franchise.
More importantly, to some people, they also stated that they have targeted the 2009-10 fiscal year for the release of major games such as: Assassin’s Creed 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, and Ghost Recon. The announcement of Assassin’s Creed 2 should definitely make a lot of people happy, as well as the other Tom Clancy games announced. Lets hope that they mean late this year for those releases and not next year.
Hopefully we start seeing more strong performances like this. This seems to be one of those beacons of light that is surrounded by darkness. Maybe other companies will look to Ubisoft to see what they did right, but only time can tell.
