Looks like the California Court of Appeals has once again slapped down a ridiculous piece of video game legislation. This one has been going through the courts since around 2005 and from the sounds of it, has been crushed every time. The law was one which California Governor Schwarzenegger sought to stop the rental or sale of any video games labeled as “violent”. The ESA (Entertainment Software Association) has fought it since its inception, and it looks like they have won every time. The spokesman for the ESA said that “this is a win for California citizens.” He also went on to comment how legislation, like the one that was struck down, is reckless and a waste of tax payer dollars. He is reffering to the fact that the last time the law was struck down the state had to pay the ESA $282,794 for essentially wasting their time in court.
