If there was one movie from my childhood that gives me a nerdgasm every time I watch it, it would be Tron. The movie that used vector graphics to create one of the best Sci-fi, nerd movies of the 1980s was first created into the highly unappreciated Tron 2.0: Killer App for Xbox. This was developed by Buena Vista games, who is owned by Disney, creators of the film.
Unfortunately, Disney interactive has been hit by recent layoffs, but it seems that the development of the game has not been hurt and moved onto another developer.
The original game was an FPS, but the genre of this new title has not been tracked down by the blogosphere. With the new film, Tr2n, scheduled for a 2011 release, a game obviously in the works because both films are about…….video games. I am totally psyched for both the new film and its video game tie-in. That reminds me, it has been a few months since I watched the movie. Time to find the DVD and throw it in. I will be fawning over a younger Jeff Bridges as arcade owner and super homebrewer, Kevin Flynn for the next two hours.
Stay tuned to AmpedGaming for more information as it is released.
