Blizzard Launches Battle.net Revamp

Today marked the launch of the new Battle.net, which ties in all things Blizzard into one account.  This includes online gaming, forums, World of Warcraft accounts, the Blizzard Store and more.  Right now the merging of WoW accounts and the new Battle.net accounts is optional, but the larger moneymaker of the Activision-Blizzard giant says that eventually all will need to go through the process once more functionality is added to the system.  Additionally, the two huge games coming, Starcraft II and Diablo III, will definately make use of this new and improved way of managing accounts.   Players of the older games, Warcraft III, Starcraft and Diablo I & II,  have the option to either merge their old Battle.net accounts with the new or just skip the process all together and stay on what’s now going to be called Battle.net Classic.

Hopefully the next step is a Steam-like store where I can rebuy their older games that I’ve lost the discs to in a digital format.
