Screenshots have emerged on both Joystiq and Gamespot that show a certain purple haired vixen making an appearance in the upcoming installment of the Ninja Gaiden series.  Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will not only be including Ryu as a staring character, but will be adding Ayane from the Dead or Alive series as well as Momiji from Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword.  Tecmo plans to weave the two laides into the storyline and branch off at certain points.

Although more characters are always a bonus, Tecmo’s second announcement is what will have most gamers jumping for joy.  There will be an online co-op mode that skips the campaign and offers 30 online challenge areas with four difficulties.  In addition to these two major announcements, the expected new enemies and weapons are all going to be here too.  The game is expected to be released on the Playstation 3 this fall. It’s grand to see that Tecmo is pulling out all the stops for Sigma 2 instead of just making it a simple rerelease of the same game that appeared on the Xbox 360.
