A source, who contacted Joystiq, has photo “evidence” of a price drop for the Playstation 2 to a mere 100 dollars. The informant, who is supposedly from Kmart, also shows us that the date of the price drop will be on or around April 5th. Mr. Sliwinski also states that the boys at Joystiq asked about a PS3 price drop and of course, there was nothing at all.
We all know that the hundred dollar mark is just about the death of a console. Same thing happened for the Gamecube and Xbox, but they were much earlier in their life cycle. I think that this drop will sell even more consoles because of the slowing economic situation and it will ride off into the sunset….until the Wii beats it out sometime soon.
