Relic’s latest iteration of their popular RTS based on the Warhammer 40k table-top game, Dawn of War II, has been reported to debut as the best selling PC game during the first week of its release. DoWII has received a high amount of praise from gaming outlets all over, so these sales are definately well deserved. There was no actual number of sales spoken of in the press release, but considering there really hasn’t been too much else out yet on the platform that can compete, it’s a no-brainer that it would be at the top. One has to wonder, though, that if The Sims 3 had not been pushed back from that same release window (DoWII was released on 2/23/09 and Sims 3 was set to be released 2/20/09), if the more hardcore tactical strategy game would have been destroyed sales wise by the hugely popular bathroom-shower-clean-up-house tactical strategy game who’s previous versions and expansions have stayed in the top selling PC charts year-round since conception.

I dont really understand why the PC gamers are so intrigued by warhammer. Dont they realize that there is a small company called blizzard who makes a game titled world of warcraft?
Why are PC enthusiasts / gamers aware that there is an alternative that is 5 billion times better?
