When I finally got around to downloading the Wheelman demo, I was quite skeptical of the lack of news and overall press surrounding the new title from Midway/Ubisoft/Tigon. Does anyone really know who is publishing this thing anymore. But, with the game now in the hands of Ubisoft, there will be little marketing and somehow the Wheelman will turn a profit. They just have a knack for producing and selling mediocre games. Overall, the game looks good graphically and has some fun mechanics, but I don’t know how 10-15 hours of banging into cars will stay fun. Although I can’t predict the whole game, I hope there is minimal “GTA” style gameplay because it is kind of janky. The real part of the game that peaks my interest is the driving, with the “shove” mechanic along with the special moves. These are fun to produce and with all Midway games developed on the Unreal Engine, there are awesome (Michael Bay would be proud of them) explosions.

I don’t know how much Tigon and Midway have improved the game over the demo, but I can say at this point, it is at least a rental. Hopefully they answer my emails and send over a copy because this game interests me. I like driving games, explosions and gimicky mechanics. If you like all three of these then this is your game. Also, although the enclusion of Vin Diesel does help with the voice acting because the man has a sick voice. Keep this game on your radar, even though it is about to come out.
