I guess Konami couldn’t take the heat or did not want the public relations nightmare that was their upcoming third person shooter, Six Days in Fallujah. After much controversy during the last few months, since announcment, Konami is now saying that they are dropping the publishing rights to the Iraq based shooter. This comes to us as a surprise because the game was set during actual events in the Iraq war.
According to the story, “After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it,” a public relations official of Konami said. “We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there.” The only thing that Atomic Games, the developer of the game, had going for themselves was including 40 soldiers’ stories in molding the game. The article does not say if this decision has caused Atomic games to shutdown the project or just start looking for another publisher. Sorry guys, but if Konami doesn’t publish it, I think you have become untouchable by anyone else. It is just too much controversy and probably not enough profits.
