1Up.com is reporting on rumors from sources directly involved with the development of the new iteration of Sony’s Playstation Portable, which state that the system will be revealed at this years E3. With the release of European PSP add-on’s that contain the name Go! (the Go!Cam 1.3 megapixel camera and Go!View video on demand service), most speculation is behind Sony naming it the PSP Go! (which sound pretty horrible to me).
Two SKU’s of the system are said to be releasing, one with eight gigs of storage space and one with sixteen. What’s this much storage space needed for? Well, the removal of the UMD drive, of course. At launch, Sony is suppose to have over 100 classic and new PSP titles readily available for download, one of which is to be the so-longly-anticipated-that-I-forgot-it-even-still-existed Gran Trourismo Mobile. The rest of the redesign include a slide up screen, which reveals a d-pad, analog nub, face buttons, and a show of Sony ignoring the developers request for a second analog nub.
When asked about this, Sony gave 1Up the typical “we do not comment on rumors or speculation” speech.
The release dates of the new PSP SKU’s are said to be September for Japan and late October or early November.
