If you have ever loved pointing and clicking your way through a mysterious adventure, then you are going to love Broken Sword for the DS. Although it seems like a dead genre, those of us who loved the games from the 90′s like Indiana Jones, Curse of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle, then you know what you are getting into with this new release. I was able to pick up the game, which has been rumored to be quite scare, and sit down with it for a few hours on my last business trip. The game is remake of the classic game that was released in 1996. Unfortunately, I never played the original version, but this gives you a unbiased view of the current release, dubbed, Director’s Cut.

From the box I know that there is a new hint system, which I used as little as possible, but it did help when trying to conquer the puzzles. All I know is the game is fun and the art is done by Dave Gibbons, of Watchmen fame, which is quite relevant since I just finished reading the graphic novel earlier this year. The game, after the first 2 hours, is very engaging and the story keeps me coming back for more. I love the save system because it doesn’t force you to reach certain checkpoints, which I love in a portable title. The puzzles, which I spoke of above, can be mind bending, but are very welcome in such a great adventure game. The nostalgia I have for this genre grows with every move I make. Obviously, the touch screen controls, of the Nintendo DS, are perfect for this genre. Keep up the good work Ubisoft and continue to rerelease all of these title and I will keep buying them over and over. But, enough of the sales side of things, back to my impressions.

Overall, the game is fun so far and if you love advaenture games, then you will not be let down by Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars on the Nintendo DS. The game is available at your local games store, hopefully, for thirty bucks. Look for a review coming soon.
