In an announcement made this morning, EA Partners and Crytek have struck a deal that will allow them to make Crysis 2. This next title in the graphically powerful series will be built on the new Crytek 3 engine, which will allow them to make it for multiple consoles. This new engine can be used to develop games on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. In the press release, there is a quote from the CEO of Crytek and he states “The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it’s the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3. We are excited to have the support of EA Partners again as we work together to make the launch of Crysis 2 a huge event.”
This is a great development coming out of EA Partners and shows the continued support for more niche titles by EA Partners. It is good that EA can recognize great developers with amazing technology. There will be more from them in the future and when we know about it, you will too.
