Senior vice president of EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderlund, confirmed with Videogamer.com at E3 that they have a small team working on the sequel to DICE’s Mirror’s Edge.
Mirror’s Edge 2 was only mentioned as a title in consideration by EA up until now.
See, just like Dead Space, Mirror’s Edge was an actual original IP. Since they sold less than they would’ve liked of these titles, there was a bit of worry that EA would ditch these titles and go back to just spurting out the usual yearly sports titles and Sims expansions. From what Soderlund told Videogamer, it sounds like they at least want to try to do more than drop these IP’s completely:
“Mirror’s Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn’t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think.”
“You will see another Mirror’s Edge for sure. It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I’m excited about what we do.”
