EA is infamous in gaming culture. People compare it to the empire in the Star War’s series. Why you ask? Well it’s famous for not exactly taking the wishes of gamers into their minds while making their games. However, in past years this seems to have been slowly lifting as better and better games starting coming out of EA. They’re best known for EA Sports, which may as well be a monopoly on the sports genre in my opinion nowadays. Fewer know EA for their program EA Partners.
EA Partners has been around for a while now but seems it has received much more attention in the last few years and has garnered an impressive amount of Third Party Developers including Valve, Bioware, and a little Epic here and there. This program helps these developers with funding and bringing their games across multiple platforms.
Either way now onto their showing in their Keynote. Nothing as revolutionary as Microsoft’s keynote here, but that’s to be expected by a company that deals in the software.
Ea Sports followed up a conference on EA Girls and their games which I am not going to cover, assuming that games for 13 year old girls aren’t what you guys are looking to see. So EA Sports started off with Fight Night Round 4. I am ashamed to say that the only thing that seems to have been updated about the game is the graphics and the legends that you can play as (Tyson, Ali, you know it all by now). The Highlight of EA Sports was the on stage demo for Grand Slam Tennis for the Wii. Included in the presentation was a hilariously awkward Pete Sampras and the fact that the game is going to support Wii Motion Plus, which may actually make it a good game….hopefully…..
After an appearance from Bioware to show off Dragon Age Origins(see other article) the head of Pandemic Studios took the stage to show off their upcoming game Saboteur. There was a demo played which quite frankly looked awesome in my opinion. Involving costume changing and Nazi infiltration. After this Bioware again took the stage for Mass Effect 2 and once again you should look at the post I did on that earlier.
Following this the President Crytek took the stage to show off Crysis 2. Nothing much was in the way of info here other than the announcement that it would be multiplatform and the graphics would actually improve. Following this our favourite metal head developer Tim Schafer took the stage to announce more on Brutal Legends. Sadly there wasn’t much in the way of info here other than that Ozzy Osbourne and numerou other metal personalities would make cameos in the game. Followed was a funny video of Jack Black. I love Jack Black…….
The press conference was finished off by yet another presentation of Bioware on Star War’s the Old Republic, which once again has its own post.
