In my continuing quest to bring you up to date knowledge from E3 (courtesy to G4 for their live show on it) I thought you would all want to hear about the new Mass Effect Trailer
Spoiler: Shepard isn’t Dead
He’s back and putting together a team of specialists for a suicide mission against what I am sure are the Reapers. It seems that the beginning of the game will consist of missions hunting down said specialists and then convincing them to accompany you. Does that mean Wrex will be back? Not if you killed him in your Mass Effect game. The game will upload data and update its universe based on the save data from your original Mass Effect game. Obviously you will not need Mass Effect to play Mass Effect 2, but you will need it in order understand the story.
