Mafia 2: Production Focus

Set to release sometime before the end of this year, Mafia 2 aims to create a free roaming world, similar to GTA and crackdown. The visual appeal of the 50′s should provide the perfect backdrop forVito, and his childhood buddy Joe as they move into the world of organized crime.

2k Czech is working on a whole new game engine called “Illusion,” which was the only way they felt the game could accommodate their needs.  Their visual goal is realism, with New York as their main source for inspiration. If you’re like me, and have an interest in the behind-the-scenes of game creation, CGSociety just published an article discussing some of the process and tools used to make this mobster game.
