The Raptr client, which launched today, allows users to chat across all major IM networks, including AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, XFire, ICQ, Facebook Chat and Xbox Live. Track all those achievements you’ve been working so hard to get on Xbox Live, WoW and Steam and show them off.
Just from visiting their site, the one thing I like are their real-time top games and hot games charts, which are similar in appearance to a puzzle game, as visual updates drop down in columns according to genre. Seems like it would be a good research tool for game companies to see what’s popular.
The only problem with these types of chat programs is that in order for them to work properly, you and all your friends need to have it and USE it. I used to have Xfire and I have Steam, which serves a similar purpose, but unless you have it automatically load when you turn on your computer, it generally ends up being worthless. That being said, I’ll probably still give it a shot.
