It would seem the massive onslaught of gaming goodness that is the fall/Christmas season is slowly but surely becoming more like a moderately-sized offensive. During their 1st quarter 2009 sales report earlier today, Ubisoft announced that both Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2, two hotly anticipated (ok, one hotly anticipated and one we’re hoping is a big improvement) titles originally scheduled for release this holiday season were both being pushed to 4th quarter ’09, which translates to sometime between January and March 2010. (As a side note somebody should really get word out that the industry is in need of a massive calendar recalibration!)
In addition to this, two other titles: I Am Alive and Ghost Recon have been pushed into fiscal ’10-’11, which means they won’t be coming out any earlier than April 2010.
After hearing about Bioshock 2, Bayonetta, Singularity and Army of Two: The 40th Day getting delayed, you gotta yourself: What’s a “gotta buy 4 games a week every week from late September until early December thus draining my finances to the point where I have to miss payments on my bills and lower my credit to the point where I get turned down for a mortgage” guy gonna do this year?
