During BlizzCon’s opening ceremony, Blizzard officially announced their third expansion for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. During the trailer, Wow.com liveblogged everything that has happened for those of us who weren’t fortunate enough to be able to make the trip out to the quickly sold out convention.
Classic zones are changed forever by the Cataclysm. The Wetlands and Ashenvale are destroyed, zones including Kalimdor, The Barrens and Eastern Kingdoms are covered in lava.
The Goblins of Kazaan, a clan shipwrecked upon the Lost Isles have joined the Horde. Their class choices are: hunter, warrior, rogue, death knight, priest, shaman, mage and warlock.
Humans that have become something more, Worgen, are being attacked by the Forsaken and join the Alliance. Their available class choices are: warrior, hunter, death knight, rogue, druid, warlock, priest, mage and warlock.
Along with these changes, a few other rumors were confirmed. Flying mounts are now useable in Azeroth. New race/class combinations will be made available. A guild leveling system has been implemented. The level cap raises up to 85. A bunch of old world raid dungeons get heroic modes. The black dragon, Deathwing, also makes a return to Azeroth.
Look for the trailer and screenshots to be put up here as soon as it’s released online.
