  • Hands-On with Mafia II 0 CommentsPosted by Frank Hunter on March 31, 2010 under Featured Content, PC Games, PC Previews, PS3, PS3 Previews, Xbox 360, Xbox 360 Previews
When you hear the name, "2K Games,"  your mind probably jumps to one of two things: Bioshock or Oblivion. 2K is a subsidary of Take-Two productions, and has been around for five years now. In that five years they have published almost 40 different titles, but relatively few have gained any sort of notoriety among hard core gamers. The Family Guy Video Game and Ghost Rider I suppose, just did not ... more.
  • Civilization V Preview 0 CommentsPosted by Jon Huie on March 27, 2010 under PC Games, PC Previews
We were invited by 2K Games to see an early build of the next iteration of my personal favorite time sink, Civilization 5. While it was only an eyes-on presentation, it’s fairly obvious after seeing the game in motion that a bunch of things have been made better. The first thing you can see is that the grid is composed of what Firaxis likes to refer to as "Hexes". These give the world a more ... more.
  • The Future of Music Games – Look Ma, No Buttons! 0 CommentsPosted by Frank Hunter on under Hightlight1, PC Previews
Back when I was in college, I was exposed to a little title known as Guitar Hero. I mistakenly believed that buying this game at finals time would be excellent way to unwind when I wasn’t studying my little ass off. I was sorely mistaken, as the best of us often are. Pretty soon studying wasn’t happening, but there is always a flip side. I managed to complete “Bark at the Moon” on hard... more.

Today, we heard from some of the minds behind City of Heroes, the industry’s leading superhero MMORPG. They talked extensively about what it means to take a game that was solid at release and keep it fresh and fun over the years. They gave a ton of details on the upcoming “Going Rogue” expansion, as well as some never before seen details on the distant Issue 19. Since NCSoft picked the fr... more.

  • AmpedGaming Podcast Episode 5 0 CommentsPosted by Jon Huie on February 22, 2010 under Featured Content, PC Games, Podcasts, Xbox 360
This weeks episode is the next to last time we'll be talking about Mass Effect 2 (aside from future DLC of course). Arsen couldn't make it this time so we'll give him a chance to talk about his ME2 experience in a couple weeks. Matt and I spoil the last half of this epic game and finish things off with a short discussion on some of the other things I've been playing recently. Intro and outro... more.
  • Quick Starcraft 2 Beta Impressions and Random Screenshots 0 CommentsPosted by Jon Huie on February 19, 2010 under Featured Content, PC Features, PC Previews
In anticipation for the upcoming Starcraft II beta, my roommate and I decided to buy the first one again digitally off the Blizzard Store. After figuring out strange work arounds to get the game to display correctly in Windows 7, we were once again stuck playing this 11 year old game for hours. Yesterday marked when Blizzard finally let people in to the highly anticipated sequel to what appears... more.
  • Mass Effect 2 Mineral Gathering Inspires Rap Song “Those Minerals” 1 CommentsPosted by Jon Huie on February 17, 2010 under PC News, Xbox 360 News
Anyone who listened to last week's Mass Effect 2 filled podcast knows how much one of my podcast cohorts, Arsen Nazaryan, loves scanning and gathering minerals in the game. This mundane activity in Mass Effect 2 normally makes me feel a need to put the TV tuner card in my PC to good use, but YouTube user Kabuto the Python took it as inspiration for a song. A pretty good one at that. Definitely wor... more.
  • GTA:Episodes From Liberty City Coming To PC/PS3 March 30th 0 CommentsPosted by Jon Huie on January 29, 2010 under Highlight3, PC News, PS3 News
It seems the $50 million Microsoft payed to Rockstar to have Grand Theft Auto 4's DLC exclusively was indeed part of a timed deal. The controversial developer announced that GTA: Episodes From Liberty City will be coming to the other two platforms the base game was available for on March 30th. The expansions will be sold in much the same way that they were on the 360, both on disc and digital down... more.
  • Mass Effect 2 DLC Detailed, Titled “The Cerberus Network” 0 CommentsPosted by Arsen Nazaryan on January 20, 2010 under Hightlight1, PC Games, PC News, Xbox 360, Xbox 360 News
As you'll hear from our most recent podcast (where Jon, Matthew, and I vehemently show our support for the game), there's a ton of excitement over Mass Effect 2. Why is that? Because Bioware is an excellent development studio and Mass Effect was the epitome of a shooter-RPG gaming experience. Now we have the chance to do it all over again through two disks instead of one? Yeah, there's a reason we... more.
